Save a Life: Renew Your LGI Certification

It's that time again! Make sure visitors to your park are in good hands when they use your pools, water parks, or other aquatic centers. Register now for the upcoming in-water portion required for the LGI update and ensure your instructors have received the proper training and are qualified to train your park professionals.
Why Get Certified
So if you don't already know all the reasons it is vital to have someone that is LGI certified at your park, we're here to tell you why it's important.
In order for your park department to teach any type of life guarding course, someone at your park department/organization MUST
be LGI certified. This being said, if your park has any type of aquatic center, pool, or splash pad, it's necessary that you have a life guard on staff who knows how to react in a state of emergency.
It is important to make sure one of your employees is LGI certified so they can continue to train a knowledgeable life guarding staff.
How Do I Register?
Attention all American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructors or those overseeing LGI’s: In partnership with Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation, we will be hosting the in-water portion for the required LGI update
Join us on Friday, August 25 at the Monon Center in Carmel, IN for an opportunity to brush up on your skills renew your LGI Certification. This session will be held from 9-5 and will meet the in-water portion requirement of your update.
Please note that in order to maintain a Life guarding Instructor and/or Instructor Training certification, all instructors must complete the free online update prior to July 31, 2017.

What Else Do I Need to Know?
Upon successful completion of this update, life guarding instructors/instructor trainers will receive an extension on their certification for one year. During this one year certification period, Instructors and Instructor Trainers must attend and successfully complete the in-person review course.
This event will be a great opportunity to complete the in-water review course, as well as network with other aquatic professionals in the state!
