At the Indiana Park and Recreation Association, we believe it's important that our members get to know the staff that works tirelessly to provide you with the best IPRA experience possible. We want to introduce you to Lindsey Houston, our Membership and Marketing Coordinator!

How have parks contributed to or enriched your life? -

Having two young daughters, parks are very important to my family. Before we moved to Noblesville, we made sure to check out the local parks within walking distance of our future home. We knew we wanted to live somewhere with amazing parks that we could easily enjoy. My oldest daughter asks almost daily to go to the park, no matter the weather conditions outside. We enjoy the ability to stay active and get outside. We especially love riding our bikes along the river to Forest Park.

What is your favorite park memory or experience? -

I will always remember my local park growing up in Fairmount, Indiana. Playacres Park is the hub for everything happening in our small town. With three older brothers, I spent most of my summer at the baseball diamonds. I have fond memories of fireworks at the park, playing with friends, and enjoying the annual James Dean Festival.

What is your favorite part of working at IPRA? -

During my time with IPRA, I have had the opportunity to meet park professionals that care deeply about their community and profession. It is so refreshing to work with such passionate people. I've enjoyed my time networking with our members, both park agencies and corporations. Thank you for choosing to support IPRA. We are thankful for your membership. Please reach out and say hello! I've also enjoyed managing our interns. We have a lot of fun and work even harder! I'm excited to see where life takes these bright young professionals.

What parks have you visited in Indiana? - I have had the opportunity to visit so many fantastic parks, both personally and professionally. I recently visited Garfield Park in Indianapolis. The grounds were beautiful and exceeded my expectations. I look forward to exploring the conservatory and gardens again soon.

My family frequently visits Cool Creek Park, Federal Hill Commons, Forest Park, Holliday Park, Morse Park and Beach, Potter's Bridge Park, and West Commons. I hope to visit many more parks this year.

Favorite character(s) on Parks and Recreation?-

Obviously, Ron Swanson and Leslie Knope. They are a dynamic duo!
