The Indiana Park and Recreation Association had the opportunity to discuss The Skillman Corporation with Natalie O'Hara, Business Development. Read below to learn more about our corporate member The Skillman Corporation.

Tell us a little about your corporation/organization.

2022 marks Skillman’s 50th anniversary year of working with Parks & Rec partners across Indiana! Whether it’s managing the restoration of an historic lakefront park in Gary, building the nation’s 4th largest pool in Elkhart, or overseeing the construction of a fun-filled water park in Greenwood, we’ve loved working with communities around the state. We Build Relationships, Not Just Buildings, 90% of our current work is with repeat clients; and to date, we’ve managed over 800 public projects in Indiana. Skillman has an extensive portfolio of projects with school districts, providing expertise in field work, natatoriums, and every type of organized sports facility, this experience transfers well to our Parks & Rec work. Because we work primarily with publicly funded projects, we have a clear understanding of the legal and financial requirements. As well, Skillman has strong relationships with contractors around the state, which is critical for bringing the best and most competitive team to your project.

How does your corporation/organization impact parks and recreation?

Skillman knows how critical a park or recreational facility can be to the health and vitality of your town or city, that’s why we always make sure to support and “become a part” of the areas in which we serve. We make a point to exceed your community’s expectations. Also, Skillman provides reliable, economical, and on-time delivery of your park projects, so you can remain focused on other priorities.

Why do you choose to be a member of the Indiana Park and Recreation Association? How long have you been a member?

Being an IPRA member has allowed us to continue to learn from the Parks & Rec administrators and understand your most current and vital needs as you serve your communities. It was amazing to witness the call-to-action and determination of the IPRA members to meet the unique needs of their communities throughout the Pandemic. We’ve been privileged to be a member for 3 years.

How has your experience with IPRA benefited your corporation/organization? What are some of the most rewarding aspects of your membership?

As a member, Skillman has enjoyed IPRA meetings at parks, learning how they were developed; being a part of the Annual Conference Committee; and the opportunity to get to know the best and brightest parks administrators! Parks and Rec leaders work hard and are very passionate – positively impacting people’s lives every day.

Please tell us any additional information you would like to be included in your feature.

We would love to share how Skillman’s approach to construction management can help you meet and exceed your goals. For an introductory meeting please contact Natalie O’Hara, 317-727-0860, nohara@skillman.com
