The Indiana Park and Recreation Association had the chance to discuss National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) with its Director of Education Programs , Kate Nematollahi. Please continue reading below to learn more about our corporate member National Alliance for Youth Sports.
Tell us a little about your organization. The National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) educates, equips and empowers youth sports leaders, volunteers and parents so all children can enjoy the lifelong benefits of sports. NAYS, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, partners with more than 3,000 community-based organizations and has trained more than four million adults since 1981.
How does your organization impact parks and recreation? The training courses, membership tools, unique programs, guiding documents and many trusted resources provided by NAYS exist to help parks and recreation departments provide quality youth sports experiences. The first organization to ever mandate our training for coaches (back in the 80s) was a parks and recreation department in Georgia. Ever since, parks and recreation youth sports programs have always been at the core of the NAYS community. The majority of our Certified Youth Sports Administrators, NAYS Member Organizations and communities offering our youth development programs are parks and rec agencies.
Why do you choose to be a member of the Indiana Park and Recreation Association? How long have you been a member? We chose to be a member of IPRA to better connect with youth sports leaders in Indiana. NAYS has been involved with IPRA in years past but we have just recently joined again.
Please tell us any additional information you would like to be included in your feature.
