Tell us a little about your corporation/organization?

Butler, Fairman, & Seufert (BF&S) was founded in 1961 to provide specialized bridge and roadway engineering. Over the years, we have met the demand for new services by expanding our expertise, capabilities, and professional staff. BF&S now has over 65 licensed Professional Engineers, Professional Surveyors, Landscape Architects, and Architectural Historians, as well as a technical support staff of over 130. Our extensive understanding of design guidelines, proven ability to coordinate with stakeholders, and experience in managing projects, both large and small, is unparalleled. Our goals are to build long-term, genuine relationships with our clients and contribute to the quality of life and growth of the communities we serve.

How does your corporation/organization impact parks and recreation?

For nearly 30 of our 61 years, BF&S has been providing engineering and landscape architecture services for the planning and design of parks, trails, and greenways, from funding applications and master plans to final plans and inspection. We use our experience and commitment to quality to assist Parks and Recreation departments across Indiana in the development of outstanding facilities for their communities.

Why do you choose to be a member of the Indiana Park and Recreation Association? How long have you been a member?

BF&S has been a corporate member and sponsor of IPRA since 2001. Our membership provides us additional opportunities to interact with our clients, allows us to introduce ourselves to those who aren’t clients (yet), and demonstrates our commitment to the Parks and Recreation community through program and event sponsorships.

How has your experience with IPRA benefited your corporation/organization? What are some of the most rewarding aspects of your membership?

Through interactions with IPRA members, we have learned more about the needs and concerns of Parks and Recreation departments and their staff. This knowledge assists us in becoming trusted partners with our clients in their efforts to expand and enhance the quality of life in the communities they serve. And we’ve made some friends along the way.

Please tell us any additional information you would like to be included in your feature.

We are pleased to announce that one of our recent projects, Michigan City’s Singing Sands Trail, Phases 1 and 2, received the Indiana Greenways Foundation award for the Outstanding Trail Project of 2022, as well as the ACEC Engineering Excellence Merit Award!
