As a parks and recreation professional, how do you stay relevant? Are you guiding your agency to relevance? And what is your role in keeping your association relevant?

Your days are typically filled to the max. You are accountable to your bosses, your elected officials and your stakeholders. You have many balls in the air. Taking time to answer those questions isn’t high on your list of things to do. But they should be.

The time to position parks and recreation for relevance is now. This workshop will give you tips to use personally and provide some useful tools to use for your agency. You will also learn why it’s so important for you to invest your time and energy in your professional association.

Facilitator and presenter: Ann Conklin , who served as a parks and recreation professional in Michigan for 32+ years and 7 years as the Executive Director of the Michigan Recreation and Park Association, mParks. During her tenure at the local level, Conklin served as the lead administrator as her agency achieved CAPRA accreditation and earned the NRPA Gold Medal.
